Creepy trio Salem can be credited with inventing the "witch house" genre, a tag that will no doubt be the subject of so many jokes in sixth months (like how "chillwave" and "shit-gaze" are now). The Chicago/New York/Michigan hybrid group have prepared their sure-to-be frightening debut album King Night for a September 28 release date. But rather than leave us waiting around, they've dropped a mixtape.
In typical Salem fashion, the mix is off-putting and mysterious. Called I BURIED MY HEART INNA WOUNDED KNEE, no tracklisting is offered and the cover art depicts some mysterious ropes, which are most likely intended for something evil. Either way, if you feel like a good spook mixed with some decent production work, the mix is clearly worth your time.
