Safe To Say set the pace for Riot Fest in a big way, opening the day with a grimy, tight and larger-than-life sounding set. Incorporating a mix of tracks from their latest release Hiding Games and their previous full length With Everything In Between, the four-piece ebbed and flowed, contrasting Brad Garcia's fluctuating range of vocals with subdued and powerful riffing during "Summer Sickness" and "Bracelets." Older songs like "Bleed" and "Nothing Gold" had the members of the audience singing along as the band ripped along at a furious pace.
The entire set was mixed perfectly and the band utilized the extra space on stage well, deploying hair-flipping headbangs and screaming into their guitar pickups. Before closing out their set with the heavy-hitting "Near Enough," guitarist Cory Bergeron injured his hand and began to bleed all over the body of his guitar — but even then, he never missed a beat and drove home each note and resounding slam. With their concise and formidable set, Safe To Say left the crowd thoroughly impressed.
