Rod Stewart Says Elton John's Farewell Tour "Stinks of Selling Tickets"

Forget what your favourite rap bloggers and Twitter stans are telling you — the year's hottest music beef comes courtesy of a pair of British septuagenarians. Following the news that Elton John was launching an enormous farewell tour, his friendly competitor Rod Stewart has taken some potshots in the media.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Stewart poked plenty of fun at John's big retirement cash grab. "I did email her and said, 'What, again dear?'" Stewart said of Elton, who he has given the nickname Sharon [Elton calls Rod by the name Phyllis]. "And I didn't hear anything back."

Stewart added that if and when he decides to retire, he won't make such a fuss about it.

"Talking about retirement, I've never spoken about retirement, and if I do retire, I won't make an announcement," he said. "I'll just fade away. I don't think this big deal, 'I'm going to retire' – it stinks of selling tickets... it's dishonest. It's not rock'n'roll."

And if you're surprised at his behaviour, keep in mind that this is the same pop star that recently had to apologize for reenacting an ISIS beheading video.
