Rock n Roll Monkey and the Robots occupy a strange space within the Detroit music community. The bands lo-fi pop stands in contrast of the majority of garage and blues-influenced rocknroll that the city has produced within the last 10 years. The groups early 90s approach occasionally seems weary, but there is a solid tunefulness to its ramshackle songs. The bands blend of fuzz and trashcan vocals points sporadically towards a looser version of the Grifters. Despite its handful of creative shortcomings, Detroit Trauma features some solidly crafted pop songs.
