The jam-packed summer festival season is currently aiming for your hard-earned dollars, and organizers of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival have just thrown their hat in the ring by announcing a handful of headlining acts set to appear at their event, which takes place between August 25 and September 2.

Organizers have confirmed that prolific UK songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, Alejandro Escovedo, Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven head honcho David Lowery and folk-rock figure Willie Nile will all play the Carleton Music Bar & Grill over the course of the Labour Day Weekend.

"Going into the fourth year of our little festival, we wanted to make a statement about how seriously we take songwriting talent and how determined we are to bring world-class artists to our city to play and hang out with our own songwriters," creative director Mike Campbell said in a statement. "With the initial announcement of the Carleton's Labour Day weekend lineup, I think we've made that statement! We look forward to sharing the rest of the programming with everyone in the coming weeks."
