We haven't heard a whole heck of a lot out of Fleet Foxes lately, but now frontman Robin Pecknold has emerged with a new recording: a cover of the Five Keys' "Out of Sight, Out of Mind."
The song is a departure from Fleet Foxes' pastoral folksiness, as it's a melancholic jazz lament. It begins as a smooth, sweet-sounding number, but the arrangement unexpectedly explodes halfway through with dense drum fills, jarring piano dissonance and harsh distorted tones. It features' Pecknold's returning collaborator Neal Morgan on percussion.
Pecknold posted the track on Fleet Foxes' Facebook page along with the message, "Happy holidays — here's a cover." Listen to it below.
