It goes without saying that it's an unprecedented era — pun fully intended — for fans looking to purchase tickets to see their favourite popular artists and not have to shell out exorbitant amounts of money (or complete several Amazing Race-style obstacle courses).

The Cure are hoping to work around this on their forthcoming North American tour, sharing upon its announcement that they're doing everything they can (opting out of Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing, mostly) to make tickets "affordable for all fans."

However, frontman Robert Smith has now acknowledged that their approach is "far from a perfect system." Despite the best efforts of the band and their team, apparently scalpers are still gonna scalp.

On Monday (March 13), the day registration for the Cure's Verified Fan Presale closed, Smith tweeted warning fans that "'secondary ticket market' sites showing insanely priced Cure tickets are a con."
