Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali

There is little doubt over whether the duo of brothers Rizwan and Muazzam Mujahid Ali Khan could have made this Real World recording were they not the nephews of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the late great ambassador of qawwali music. That said, there is no denying that the teenaged brothers can sing. There is raw passion in their performances on the album's four tracks — three songs in praise of God, Mohammed and the saint Sabir, and one ghazal (romantic poem set to music). The party of musicians and chorus vocalists that accompany them on Sacrifice To Love are often just as good. A strong debut, and hopefully, a good sign that the brothers can maintain their role in the qawwali tradition for years to come.
