What If They Held a Revolution and Nobody Came?

BY Stuart GreenPublished Oct 1, 2003

On their tenth disc, Montreal's gutter punk gods inspire living room circle pits and bedroom pogoing with their countrified Social Distortion/X-inspired mayhem. While musically a throwback to the heady days of the Sunset Strip scene circa 1981, the words and messages are most definitely current, relevant and uniquely Canadian. Laments for a lost nation, lost friends, a lost scene and even a shot at the overzealous security preparations for the G8 summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta give way to positivity of "Girls in the Pit,” an ode to the she-punks who aren't afraid to mix it up with the boys.
