Revolver Modele

Discotheque Crypt

It’s a tricky thing being in a ’80s style band these days. On the one side, you could be pigeonholed with other post-punk/new wave revivalists. Nothing wrong with that, but there’s a hell of a crowd of pigeons in there. Or perhaps you are simply dismissed as mere copyists. Minneapolis-based Revolver Modele should manage to avoid heavy scorn since at the very least they’ve got the grooves going. But following in the vocal heritage of Ian Curtis or others closer to the goth world is very hard to pull of, and these guys do have some work to do to nail this down and find their own voice. There are some pretty rocking moments that come off really well, but overall, aside from the nice guitar sounds, this is a rather lacklustre offering.
