Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, the Reveling's debut EP immediately strikes as pleasantly simple, straightforward and in direct contrast to the plethora of Brooklyn bands that have come to the forefront in the last few years (Yeasayer, MGMT, Grizzly Bear). Taking their cue from groups such as the Gaslight Anthem and Lagwagon, with hints of Face to Face, the quartet lay a solid foundation over the disc's four songs for what's to come on their full-length. "Gift" showcases Sean Morris's gritty, melodic voice, which gives the band an edge that doesn't overpower their overall aesthetic. And "A Recurrent Rescindment of Self" allows their pop sensibilities to rise to the surface. It's working class rock with heart.
