Regina Spektor Sets Up for New LP
Published Nov 22, 2011Regina Spektor's 2009 LP Far featured contributions from a slew of big-name producers, and in our review of the album, we noted that the tracks helmed by Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem) were among the standouts. It's good news, then, to learn that the famed hip-hop producer manned the boards for Spektor's latest effort.
In a post on Facebook, the quirky piano songstress revealed that the new album is called What We Saw from the Cheap Seats. Recording took place with Elizondo over the summer in Los Angeles. The release date still isn't set in stone, but Spektor wrote, "We're trying to get everything ready for it to come out in May (but I will share some stuff before then for sure!!!)."
Stay tuned for further details to emerge in the coming months. We're guessing that this will come out through Sire Records, the label that has released Spektor's last three albums.
Consequence of Sound points out that Spektor previously signed on to write the music for a Broadway adaptation of Sleeping Beauty called Beauty. It was originally due to debut before 2012, but we're guessing that this isn't too likely anymore.
