To the delight of Red Hot Chili Peppers fans everywhere, classic-era guitarist John Frusciante recently rejoined the band. Now, less than a month later, RHCP have confirmed that they're working on a new album with Frusciante onboard.

Drummer Chad Smith revealed the news in an interview with Rolling Stone. Although most of the conversation focused on his Smith's art show, he dropped this little nugget about the band:

I was given strict orders for this interview: 'DON'T TALK ABOUT THE BAND.' But, yes, John is back in the band, and everyone knows that. We're psyched. The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we'll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We're all real excited to make new music.

RHCP have a handful of festival dates booked for the coming months, starting in May.

It remains to be seen whether these sets will feature new songs, and if Frusciante will be playing any of the Chili Peppers' catalogue with recently exited guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. The last time Frusciante rejoined the band, he refused to play any of their material with mid-'90s axeman Dave Navarro.
