Rainn Wilson To Host NXNE Presentation of The Rocker

To amp up the film portion of NXNE, festival organisers have secured Rainn Wilson to host a special advanced screening of his new film, The Rocker. Wilson, best know as Dwight from The Office (though he'll always be the embalming intern weirdo from Six Feet Under who shared forehead rubbing flirtations with Frances Conroy to me), plays Robert "Fish" Fishman, a former '80s hair metal drummer reclaiming his glory days as the new stick handler for his nephew's band, A.D.D.

Peter Cattaneo of The Full Monty fame is the man behind the lens, directing from a script by Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky, the latter of whom wrote a song called "Field of Excellence" for an episode of the Simpsons back in '92. Demetri Martin adds some comedic and musical muscle to an impressive supporting cast that includes Christina Applegate and the hilarious Jane Lynch (Walk Hard, Best in Show).

This exclusive screening will be taking place at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 at the Royal Theatre, located at 608 College Street in downtown Toronto. An NXNE festival pass or wristband will gain you free admittance.
