Destiny

Creating and performing reggae music can't be faked; it's either authentic sounding or it ain't. The five-piece band from Kingston, Jamaica known as Raging Fyah manage to hit the sweet spot of realness with a '70s-sounding "Irie Vibe" that goes down nice and natural.

Across ten tracks, Destiny is a tightly produced and progressive feeling release that clearly builds off the sounds of acts like Third World. This can be felt on tracks like the mainstream-minded, horn-driven "Feel Jah Love" and "Barrier." "Step Outta Babylon" is skippable, only due to a lack of innovation around a shop-worn theme, but slowed down numbers like "Africa" and "Brave" come off confident and conscious. The band have been recording since 2008, and the infectious Destiny is a continuation and improvement upon their genuine musical ability and approach.
