Q-Tip's Life to Be Explored in New TV Drama Backed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill

Coming off his recent past-exploring The Abstract and the Dragon mixtape with Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip has now revealed plans to develop a TV show loosely based on his experiences with the legendary Native Tongues rap collective.

According to Deadline, the as-yet-untitled project is being developed by Q-Tip and Wolf of Wall Street co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill.

The scripted series will apparently draw influence from Q-Tip's high school days in the mid-'80s when he started up A Tribe Called Quest with Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White. The group later linked up with a number of groups and artists to form the Native Tongues crew, which included acts such as the Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Queen Latifah, the Leaders of the New School and Monie Love.

It's unclear how directly Tip's history will be referenced, but the show is expected to explore the friendships in the crew and the impact that they made on the music community. Q-Tip hasn't elaborated on the project on his own, but he tweeted the announcement earlier today (January 10).

Meanwhile, Q-Tip is apparently still working on his long-promised, still-developing G.O.O.D. Music debut The Last Zulu, last reporting that the LP will feature sinister beats not normally associated with the Tribe rapper.

"Bars is crazy, beats is crazy, it's gonna be darker. It's gonna be like the bad twin of Tribe, but not necessarily in terms of content, just musically," he had previously said of the project.
