PJ Harvey has gone digging through her archives to unveil a massive box set full of uncommon back-catalogue material.
PJ Harvey: B-Sides, Demos and Rarities will be released on 6LP/3CD/digital on November 4 via Island Records / Universal Music Group. Mastered by Jason Mitchell in collaboration with John Parish (who produced multiple of Harvey's albums), the majority of the 59 tracks in the collection are currently unavailable physically or digitally. The set also includes rare archival photos.
Alongside the announcement, the artist has shared demos of three songs from the box set: "Missed" and "Dry," which both originally appeared on 1993's Rid of Me, and "Somebody's Down, Somebody's Name," which was previously included as a B-side on the limited-edition version of her 1995 album To Bring You My Love.
"To have this collection of songs released to the world means a great deal to me," Harvey said in a statement. "For every album song I have written there have been accompanying brother/sister songs that for many reasons don't quite have their place in the world at that time, but do find their way eventually, and are no less important for being later. In fact some of these lesser known works are closer to my heart."
She added: "Now having all these works collected and released together in their own right feels at last to give them the place in the world they deserve. I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I do."
Harvey has been on a career-spanning vinyl reissue campaign; last year, she did an expanded pressing of 2004's Uh Huh Her. Her most recent album remains 2016's The Hope Six Demolition Project, but the singer-songwriter says her 10th studio LP will arrive next summer.
