A few months ago, Mount Eerie songwriter Phil Elverum told us about his in-the-works hardcover photo book DUST, which he planned to have out this spring. Sure enough, it will be released on June 16.
The hardcover art book is 132 pages long and comes with a 48-page booklet inside the back cover containing more photos.
The photographs are by Elverum himself, and the book contains with no words or narrative. According to an announcement, "These are clear images of a world in colour, moments of depth and eeriness found on solitary walks and international drives."
Some of the photos were taken at home in Anacortes, WA, while others come from Mount Eerie tours around the world. The photos are arranged in pairs across each page spread, resulting in "a crucial interplay that creates a third, invisible, internal world as one looks, prompting a wordless conversation between the two images and the viewer."
The book is available to pre-order for $38 from Elverum's P.W. Elverum & Sun, ltd. website. A preview of what the photos look like can be seen below.
The last time we heard from Elverum, he revealed that he was working on a new album. But in the meantime, he also has some upcoming U.S. dates, which you can see here.
