The title track "Raise the Dead is by far the catchiest cut on the record but three songs into the album you half wish they hadnt. Phantom Planet have distanced themselves from their earlier piano-driven pop incarnation on this Fueled by Ramen debut. Phantom Planet sound more in their element when focusing on controlled and organic outbursts of sweeping acoustic guitars and grungy guitar fun. Its just too bad the songs are so annoying. The last cut ties this lacklustre record together, titled "I Dont Mind. I dont mind that this record is over and I dont mind if I never listen to it again.
