Folk pop road warrior Peter Katz recently got nominated for a Juno Award for his concert DVD Peter Katz and Friends LIVE at the Music Gallery, and the busy songwriter is celebrating by announcing a new studio LP and more Canadian tour dates. The album is called Still Mind Still and it will be out in Canada on April 24.
The album actually came out in Europe on January 9. If you can't wait until the spring to pick up a physical copy, you can listen to the whole thing at the bottom of this page. It comes courtesy of the Dutch label Dying Giraffe Recordings.
As for the Juno nomination, Katz said this in a statement: "It's funny how you can spend all this time and energy trying to do all these things that you think make sense and you spend all this money you don't have to make it happen. Then you do this other thing almost on a whim with little intention and no budget, and it gets you nominated for a Juno. I'm sure there's a moral in there, for now, I just have to say that I'm surrounded by the greatest humans. This album was literally a gift to me from some amazing friends; I couldn't believe all the work they did for nothing. It was like receiving a giant 'we believe in you' card, incredibly touching, and now this... I'm stunned."
The hard-touring Katz will be playing some Canadian shows in the coming months with yet more to be announced. See the schedule below.
