Yesterday (September 20), we learned that Color Me Obsessed, the documentary on '80s booze rock act the Replacements, will be released on DVD this fall, but anyone looking for some new material from band leader Paul Westerberg got their wish today via a rough and tender demo for "My Road Now."
While Westerberg gums up the intro, shouting a few curse words over a goofed piano chord, the ballad manages to tug at those heartstrings once it kicks in properly. The vocalist's classically ragged singing style delivers lyrics about hitting the road and living on your own terms, "This is my road now, and you can hit it honey, hit it like it owes you a whole lot of money."
