Paul McCartney - okay, okay, Sir Paul McCartney - has personally selected Joel Plaskett to open for him at McCartney's only upcoming Canadian show, going down July 11 in Halifax, at the Halifax Common. Plaskett told CBC Radio 3 he's "pretty damn excited." Yeah, no kidding.
Tickets are a mere $136, or $316 for VIP passes, and are available here .
McCartney let it be known earlier this month that he wanted a Canadian act to open the gig, which led to a bit of small-scale mania amongst Canuck rockers, not the least of which was Brent Randall and His Pinecones writing a song about their desire to play.
But McCartney went with Halifax's own Plaskett, who is still going strong supporting his number-three-obsessed triple album, Three, which was released in March.
We can only assume that Joel's dad, Bill, who is currently playing guitar with Plaskett's live band, is also "pretty damn excited" to be sharing the stage with a former Beatle.
