The Papercuts Sign to Sub Pop for Fourth Album

Based in San Francisco, the Papercuts have supported front-man Jason Quever's heart-wrenching indie pop songs for a full decade. In 2009, the band released their third album, the Exclaim!-approved You Can Have What You Want, and already they've announced plans for a follow-up in 2011.

While they don't have a release date or title for the album, they do have a new record label to call home. After two albums on Gnomonsong and one on Antenna Farm, the Papercuts have officially signed with legendary indie imprint Sub Pop.

A statement from the label reads:

We at Sub Pop grew to be fans and admirers, thoroughly smitten by his work. And, as often happens when a young record label develops a "thing" for an artist, we eventually got down on one knee and asked our lawyers to ask his lawyers if he would do us the honor of joining the Sub Pop roster. Luckily for us, he said yes!

With an upcoming Sub Pop schedule that includes new albums from Cocorosie, David Cross, Male Bonding, Blitzen Trapper and No Age, it's understandable that they don't expect to release the new Papercuts album until the beginning of 2011.
