Paintbox

Fuselage

BY Rob FerrazPublished Mar 1, 2001

Toronto quartet Paintbox showcases their indie rock skills on this, their second CD. Drawing deeply from the well of indie/college rock, they take an earnest approach to their songs. You can hear hints of everything from Pavement and Archers of Loaf to old Blue Rodeo and Eric's Trip on the nine songs contained within. They have a catchy, folksy appeal that grows on you with each listen. It has a distinctly Canadian flavour as well, and I don't mean Our Mother Moist, either. The contribution made by the Hammond organ tops things off nicely.
