Pain

Pain is the solo outing of Peter Tagtgren, and it isn't exactly what one would expect from a guy who's been playing in death metal legends Hypocrisy for a decade. Instead, Rebirth is a glimpse into dark electronica, a sort of spooky emotional roller coaster ride invoking images of S&M visuals and Pinhead one minute and cold isolation and loneliness the next. I still can't warm up to this sort of cold machine-made music, but damned if it didn't hold my attention for most of its duration, much to my surprise. The guy is talented, so while most metal heads may not care to look down this particular alley of despair, hopefully some of the darkwave/goth/electronic generation will tune in to Pain.
