Progressive rock could not exist without some type of "concept" behind it. And what's a more suitable band to use a grandiose theme such as Egyptology than the current seasoned kings of prog, Ozric Tentacles. Having survived the '80s (not unlike the long-decrepit Tangerine Dream), the instrumental Ozrics have kept up with the times by incorporating touches of digital dub and trance to their otherwise trademark '80s new wave psychedelia. The group is careful not to go overboard, and their guitarist boldly ventures in long-winded solo-dom with expertise. It is quite possible that the rave patronising youngsters out there might even enjoy these sounds.
