Orbital Announce First New Release in Six Years

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 1, 2010

In 2009, pioneering techno duo Orbital returned to the stage to headline the UK festival the Big Chill. The set was the first live appearance from the Hartnoll brothers in five years, and it must have struck a chord with them because they've decided to record some new material as well.

The resulting release is a brand new single, due in digital stores on June 20. The record features the tracks "Don't Stop Me" and "The Gun is Good," and is their first proper release since 2004's The Blue Album. A limited vinyl release will be available on June 27.

While we're hoping that this single will precede a new Orbital album, the band have not made any official announcement to that effect. Instead, they revealed that they will be headlining the Glastonbury Festival in June, along with a run of other festival dates. All shows are listed below.

Tour dates:

6/12 Isle of Wight, UK - Isle of Wight Festival
6/27 Pilton, UK - Glastonbury Music Festival
7/16 Surrey, UK - Guilfest
8/7 Tokyo, Japan - Summersonic
8/8 Osaka, Japan - Summersonic
8/13 Oudenaarde, Belgium - Feest in Het Park
