Los Angeles' One Trick Pony deliver sharp lyrics and soft melodic vocals paired with louder instrumentation on Try Not to Worry So Much. Because of this, the album is something that offers different experiences playing in the background or listening via headphones (music boxes, intricate percussion). The lyrics aren't just clever, whether they're to the point or vague, but singer Randolph Williams often works his words to the feeling or environment they represent, such as in "Get Over Yourself," with his breathy "high" and "die." Strings play a huge part throughout, but the pulsing bass and drum see-sawing and the interesting mix of acoustic and electric guitar, especially when the latter is free to soar over every song, is much more appealing. Try Not to Worry So Much is jazz-y, free-spirited indie rock with lots to wade through.
