Years after the Mars Volta collected their studio catalogue for an elaborate vinyl box set, co-founding guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López will up the ante in announcing a career-spanning set of his own — bringing together an unwieldy 57 LPs.

Arriving December 4 via Clouds Hill Recordings, Amor de Frances collects solo LPs from Rodríguez-López and his various groups released between 2004 and 2024. Limited to an edition of 500 copies, the immense box set also includes a pair of previously unreleased albums, and also marks the first time 31 of its included titles have been pressed to vinyl.

Along with solo catalogue favourites like Old MoneySolar Gambling, Cryptomnesia and Xenophanes, Amor de Frances also packs in collaborative LPs with John Frusciante, Damo Suzuki and Lydia Lunch. As seen above, the set divides the LPs into four volumes, all of which arrive in a slipcase alongside a set of nine art prints.

Pre-orders for Amor de Frances open on October 30. If you're hard up for shelf space at home, it's worth noting that all 57 albums will also be available to pre-order individually beginning December 1. Further pre-order and box set details can be found via Clouds Hill.

Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala returned to action as the Mars Volta last year, releasing their first new material in 10 years. The creative partnership between the two will be explored in a new documentary premiering later this week.
