Whitehorse-based musician Jona Barr delivered his last effort as Old Cabin back in 2013 with a self-titled LP, and now he's set to follow it up with a brand new EP. Titled Saturn Return, the upcoming record is set to arrive later this summer via Label Fantastic.
Before it lands, though, Old Cabin will be hitting the road to preview some new material, embarking on a Canadian tour that starts on June 1 in his Yukon hometown. From there, he'll head through British Columbia, the Prairies and Ontario before heading back west in July.
For the tour, Barr will be accompanied by a band of players featuring Kyle Cashen (Old Time Machine), Thean Slabbert (Bosveld) and Pascal Dalaquis (Hilotrons). The full list of their upcoming shows can be found below.
Old Cabin has also unveiled the first single from the upcoming EP, sharing "Where Did You Go." Blending intricately plucked guitar and strings with Barr's earnest vocals, the song tells a story of addiction — documenting both struggle and growth. Before the EP's release, "Where Did You Go" will also be featured on an upcoming 7-inch, which will include the B-side "I?!". That vinyl release will arrive via Headless Owl Records.
