Whitehorse-based musician Jona Barr performs as Old Cabin and just wrapped up a string of tour dates in anticipation of his Saturn Return EP. Now, Exclaim! is giving you a chance to hear the upcoming effort before its official release.
The album opens with the previously shared addiction tale "Where Did You Go," which is immediately followed by an accompanying suite cryptically titled "!?!" From there, we hear the stories of "Joe," as well as "And Annie," before Barr grapples with the absurdities of life on "I Got You," and finally — and perhaps most powerfully — the aftermath of residential schools on "Don't Leave Me Behind."
Rich with layered characters and heavy themes, the album is am engaging exercise in modern musical storytelling told through a distinctly Canadian lens. Listen to Saturn Return in its entirety below.
