The Offspring Return with 'Days Go By' LP, Premiere New Single

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 27, 2012

It's been almost four years since the Offspring delivered their last LP Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, a passage of time the group may be noting via their newly announced ninth album, Days Go By.

The 12-song set was produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Mötley Crüe) and will be issued on June 26 through Columbia. You can get a taste of what's to come via a stream of the arena-ready title track down below, and you can pick up the song on iTunes tomorrow (April 28).

On the one hand, we're happy the band have still opted to skip out on the comedy rock, à la "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)," but the song oddly reminds us of the Foo Fighters' "Times Like These" and '90s one-hit wonders the Refreshments' "Banditos."

That said, the threat of jokiness exists. Note that the tracklist below contains songs called "Slim Pickens Does the Right Thing and Rides the Bomb to Hell" and "Cruising California (Bumpin' in My Trunk)." Longtime fans just might be in for a wild ride after all.

In other Offspring news, in case you missed it the other day, you can catch a full stream of '90s skate punk doc One Nine Nine Four over in our Click Hear section. The film explores the impact of the Offspring's 1994 set Smash, and features interview footage with band leader Dexter Holland.
