Obits Lose Drummer Scott Gursky

With a name like Obits, you could foresee a casualty or two along the way. While the revved-up garage rockers are still riding high on the recent release of their sophomore set, Moody, Standard and Poor, the group are now facing a setback. Drummer Scott Gursky has left the troupe.

While no specific reason was given for Gursky's departure on the band's Facebook page, it appears the two factions are still on good terms. The outfit's well-wishing eulogy to the percussionist reads:

Ladies & gents, we are very sad to announce that our youngest & handsomest member has decided to move on from this tawdry Obits cacophony. It's been a fun run & we look forward to seeing Scott on the other side of the drum kit, merch booth & at various camping sites along the eastern seaboard.

Obits have yet to find a permanent replacement for Gursky (who's far right in the photo above), but former Girls Against Boys drummer Alexis Fleisig will take a turn behind the kit for the group's upcoming summer tour. You can check out the dates, including a stop at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret on August 18, here.
