Oak And Bone

Oak And Bone

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jul 12, 2011

There's an old adage about how patience is a virtue. When it comes to music, few albums are capable of proving that little chestnut's merit like Oak and Bone's eponymous affair. Taking two years to follow-up their debut seven-inch, this album's hearty spirit and brute force are relayed with surprising precision and temperament. With such self-control, the album loses none of its tenacity while still being one complete, overwhelming and incredibly engaging bout of what happens when years of Kyuss, Coliseum and Neurosis influence are chewed up and spit out onto a fresh slab of vinyl. Sludgy, modestly stoner-tinged and totally barbaric, this 34-minute opus is one hell of an end result of combining patience with malice.
