Northumbria to 'Bring Down the Sky' on New LP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 27, 2014

Toronto drone duo Northumbria revealed they lived in a blackened frontier on their 2013 remix LP All Days Begin as Night, and it turns out they're preparing to plunge even further into the depths of darkness on their upcoming sophomore set, Bring Down the Sky.

The proper follow-up to the group's self-titled 2012 debut arrives November 21 through Belgian imprint Consouling Sounds, featuring five new tracks that have guitarist Jim Fields and bassist Dorian Williamson further exploring the realms of often improvised, ambient metal. A press release notes that the band offer up "an aural journey into a dystopian wasteland."

Northumbria's latest collection was fully written, performed and produced by the twosome, though the album was mastered by James Plotkin. Along with Bring Down the Sky's tracklisting info, you'll find a drone-heavy preview of what's to come down below in a new video trailer.

Northumbria will also be celebrating the release with a Toronto show at the Garrison on December 11 with Gates and Dirty Inputs.
