Onetime hardcore noisemaker Northcote hasn't released a full-length since 2015's Hope Is Made of Steel, but now the Victoria-based folk-rock songwriter born Matt Goud is back. He released the new single "Dancers and Queens" in March, and he tells Exclaim! that more material is on the way.
"My goal is to perform new material and tour in support of a new album. However, like everyone else, I am uncertain of when that will be possible," he says. "At the moment, I am missing singing for and with others, and missing friends out on the road."
Luckily, he's still able to connect with fans through his weekly Instagram livestreams, which take place each Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. "During the show, I am sharing songs from different albums of mine and also cover songs that I feel align with a short story segment, or are fan-selected," he explains.
Since touring isn't in the cards, we got Goud to share some of his isolation fixations that he's been enjoying in recent weeks.
