Long-running post-metalcore noisemakers Norma Jean have announced a release date for their fifth album, Meridional, which was recorded earlier this year with producer Jeremy Griffith in Atlanta and is now set to drop on July 13.
In a press release, singer/guitarist Cory Brandan said that Meridional is "a heavy record, multifaceted with epic-sounding, experimental songs, some fast, chaotic songs, and some melodic, commanding interludes. Any track we didn't think had reached its utmost sonic prowess was given a second look, and revised to be as powerful as possible."
This disc will be the band's first away from Christian-focused Solid State Records, as they recently jumped ship over to Razor & Tie. Norma Jean's last album was '08's excellent The Anti-Mother, which found the group once again pummelling their metalcore peers.
The band will head out on the road for two weeks with Every Time I Die next month, then spend the summer rocking the Mayhem Festival stage around North America next to Atreyu, In this Moment and 3 Inches of Blood. Click here for tour dates, which only include one Canadian show in Montreal on July 25.
