Nick Ferrio & His Feelings Prep Self-Titled Debut

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 16, 2012

Nick Ferrio plays with both the Burning Hell and Baby Eagle & the Proud Mothers, but he'll be showcasing his own songs for the first time this year when Nick Ferrio & His Feelings release their self-titled debut on September 18 through Shuffling Feet Records.

The disc was recorded with Ian Romano in Wellan, ON. There, Ferrio and his backing band "made a record of country music the way it was recorded generations ago -- with ribbon mics and tape machines." It was mixed by Dan Weston (City and Colour, Daniel Romano, Shad).

The songs draw on Ferrio's experiences as a touring musician. A press release notes that song subjects include "a cautionary, autobiographical tale of a night he wound up in a Swiss jail" and "a woman who killed her husband on a hunting trip in Newfoundland mistaking him for a bear." Stream the twangy roots number "Popular Flower" at the bottom of the page.

Ferrio and his band will embark on a selection of tour dates this fall. Scroll past the tracklist to see the schedule.
