The summer hasn’t even started yet, but the New Pornographers are already preparing to send it off with a bang. As we reported back in April, this coming Labour Day weekend, Canada’s power-pop darlings will present the first-ever Stanley Park Singing Exhibition, a two-night festival that will turn Vancouver’s natural jewel into a forest of song.

So far, Carl Newman and co. have gathered up friends such as Neko Case, Destroyer, Deerhoof, the Evaporators Andrew Bird and Stevie Jackson of Belle & Sebastian to play Stanley Park’s tree-wrapped amphitheatre, the Malkin Bowl, from August 31 to September 1. More artists are to be announced shortly, but tickets for the event go on sale this Friday, June 6, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
