During the '00s, the New Pornographers were the uncontested champions of Vancouver indie rock, releasing four celebrated albums, as well as a stream of noteworthy side-projects.
Now, the power pop outfit are preparing to establish their supremacy over a new decade. On New Year's Eve, front-man A.C. Newman wrote on his Twitter, "Just finished the next New Pornographers album, I am pretty damn sure."
This confirms statements made over a year ago by Neko Case, who revealed in December 2008 that Newman had prepared a batch of demos for an upcoming New Pornographers album.
The new album still doesn't have a title or release date, but look for it to drop sometime in 2010. Meanwhile, Newman hinted that he is already looking ahead to another release, writing, "Next up? Another goddamn album of some kind, I guess."
And, sorry, no word on how many tracks Dan Bejar might be doing.
