New Pornographers leader Carl "A.C." Newman hasn't released a solo record since 2009's Get Guilty, but it sounds as if we'll be hearing new material from the power pop tunesmith sometime soon.
Last night (May 10), the musician took to his Twitter account to reveal he's nearly done his next LP.
"I'm 10 days away from finishing an album, with all the accompanying paranoia, elation, self doubt, and exhaustion. That plus a baby son," he wrote, hinting that his child made an impact on this latest set of jams. "It's a solo album. When you have a kid, you have to make a warped confessional 70s singer songwriter album. It's a rock tradition."
So far we don't have an album title or a release date, but one Twitter follower managed to get a song title out of him. Asking whether there's a track written specifically for Newman's son, the songwriter responded: "Yes! How did you know? It's called 'There's Money in New Wave.'"
