New Order were meant to be spending the year gallivanting around the globe with their like-minded new-wavers Pet Shop Boys, but the trek was postponed due to COVID-19. As it turns out, there was new music on the way too and New Order have just let loose a new song.
"Be a Rebel" marks the first new material from the band since Music Complete, and it absolutely picks up where they left off with another sprightly synthpop tune. If anything, it's another example of how timeless this band really is.
"In tough times we wanted to reach out with a new song," the band's Bernard Sumner said in a press statement. "We can't play live for a while, but music is still something we can all share together."
Listen to "Be a Rebel" below, along with artwork by Søren Solkær. New Order will also treat Power, Corruption & Lies to an expanded reissue next month.
