One could boil down the shared history of New Order and Pet Shop Boys to a single song, but that changes today with the announcement of a co-headlining North American tour.

The two English '80s titans are joining forces for the "Unity Tour," an 11-date trek that "is the first – and possibly only – time to see both acts perform full headline sets on the same night."

Two Canadian stops have been included in the itinerary. New Order and Pet Shop Boys will kick off the tour in Toronto, playing Budweiser Stage on September 5. From there, they'll visit Canada again on September 24 for a stop at Vancouver's Rogers Arena.

The aforementioned musical connection that the two bands share saw New Order's Bernard Sumner and Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant co-write 1989 single "Getting Away With It" for Electronic, which was led by Sumner and Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Electronic's self-titled 1991 debut also featured contributions from Pet Shop Boys' Chris Lowe.

Pet Shop Boys released their Hotspot album last month. New Order, meanwhile, last released Music Complete in 2015.
