New Jack Hustle is the truth. The duo of rapper/producer Newman and rapper Shawn Jackson are equally talented on their own, and together they made this mind-blowing, somewhat experimental album. Jackson’s distinct flow and voice emphasize the enticing production, allowing the listener to feel the vibe. While most of the album is consistently smooth, the highlights are "Theme Music,” "New Shades” and "More,” where the two sound in their element. Skip past "Ronald,” where the "I hate Bush” hook is too obnoxious and gets old fast. Sound Check is the perfect album to get into a zone before a big event, as Newman’s beats are fresh and Jackson’s confidence is contagious.
