Neutral Milk Hotel Unveil "Last Tour for the Foreseeable Future"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 10, 2014

Neutral Milk Hotel reunited back in 2013, and since then, the revered fuzz-folk ensemble have been touring steadily. That will soon come to an end, however, since the Elephant 6 outfit have announced their "last tour for the foreseeable future."

The outing will run from mid-April through the first half of June, in which time the band will play lots of U.S. shows. Unfortunately, there aren't any Canadian shows, although there are a few gigs fairly close to the border.

Fans who want to see Neutral Milk Hotel one last time should probably make the trip now, because the band are going back into hibernation. They announced the tour with the following message:

dear friends we love you but it's time to say goodbye for the never ending now to announce that spring 2015 will be our last tour for the foreseeable future and so we extend our deepest gratitude to all the beautiful people who came to see us over the last year…

we'd also like to give thanks to ms. aurora borealis, father foam horse, and mr. valentich for there collaborative contributions to the "womb rume" message that made its way onto this ear area only a few months ago, but from now on, all ciphers shall be sealed exclusively by the meister milk. thank you.

The band's recent tours were their first since the late '90s. The band's iconic album In the Aeroplane over the Sea came out in 1998, and frontman Jeff Mangum largely went into hiding after that. He eventually re-emerged for solo tours starting in 2011. It's unclear if he will continue on alone after Neutral Milk Hotel goes quiet again.

See the schedule below. We're guessing that U2 aren't too upset about all this.
