Neil Young and his "Unknown Legend" are calling off their marriage of 36 years, since he has filed for divorce from his wife Pegi Young.
Rolling Stone reports that Young filed the papers on July 29 in San Mateo, CA, with a hearing to make it official scheduled from December 12.
Neil first met Pegi when she was a waitress, and he has since penned many love songs about her. She has launched a musical career of her own, releasing a few solo albums and performing as Neil's backup singer.
The Youngs have two children together, Ben and Amber Jean. In 1986, they helped to co-found the Bridge School for children with physical disabilities, and they organize the annual Bridge School Benefit charity concert. The reason for their conscious uncoupling has not yet been revealed.
