Neil Young Postpones "Honour the Treaties" Show in Edmonton

Neil Young Postpones 'Honour the Treaties' Show in Edmonton
Neil Young has currently got his sights set on GMOs with his forthcoming farm-related album The Monsanto Years, but prior to that he was busy supporting the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation legal defence fund with his "Honour the Treaties" concerts. Unfortunately, the Edmonton show on that tour has now been postponed.

The concert was set for July 3 at Rexall Place, but has now been cancelled. A reason for the cancellation was not given, though the show is reportedly set to be rescheduled soon.

"I am sad to say that I must postpone the July 3 Honour the Treaties concert at Edmonton's Rexall Place in support of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nations legal defence," Young said in a statement. "The Honour The Treaties Tour will be rescheduled and new dates will be announced in the very near future."

The "Honour the Treaties" tour references 1899's Treaty 8 in an effort to allow the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation to protect their lands from oilsands developers.

Stay tuned for more news on the Edmonton concert date for "Honour the Treaties." The Monsanto Years, meanwhile, is due out on June 29 through Reprise.
