The National Announce New LP Plans, Roll Out North American Dates

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 25, 2013

It's been almost three years since the National delivered High Violet, but the Brooklyn-based band are finally ready for their follow-up. Details are slim, but a press release confirms that the as-yet-untitled LP drops this May through 4AD. Fittingly enough, the band will support the set with some North American dates.

The press release states that the band will indeed be armed with new tunes for the trip, which kicks off in the middle of May in Ithaca, NY. While some of the U.S. dates will team the National with Dirty Projectors, the spring trip will have baritone crooner Matt Berninger and the rest of the boys hitting Montreal and Toronto on their own. And Torontonians will be extra pleased to know that the National's tour stop there will be a free show at Yonge-Dundas Square on June 14 as part of this year's upcoming NXNE.

You can see the full schedule, which also includes some summer gigs in Europe, down below.

While the National recently served up salutes Bob's Burgers and Game of Thrones, news of fresh material from the acclaimed outfit will likely have fans salivating until the due date. Details, meanwhile, are still pending.
