Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats have announced plans for their third studio album The Future, which is due to arrive on November 5 via Stax Records.
Rateliff considers the 11-track album "as a big question" for the times, according to a release.
"When I was writing the record we were in the middle of a pandemic and our future looked pretty bleak," he said in a statement.
"I just continue to try to write from a place of hope," Rateliff added. "Then my own neurosis, and maybe being a Libra gets in the way, and I can't make up my mind. There is this constant back and forth battle in me personally and I am sure that comes out in my writing."
Jenny Lewis, Lucius' Jess Wolfe and Sylvan Esso/Mountain Man's Amelia Meath contribute vocals to the record, which was recorded at Rateliff's own Broken Creek Studio outside of Denver, CO. The album was produced by Bradley Cook (Bon Iver, Kevin Morby, the War on Drugs), as well as the production trio R.M.B., formed by Rateliff, Patrick Meese and Beach House live drummer, James Barone.
Today, the group have shared the album's lead single "Survivor," which arrives with its own lyric video. Hear that below, where you'll also find the album's tracklisting and cover art.
