Nash Kato

Debutante

BY Ian DanzigPublished Jul 1, 2000

Crawling from the wreckage that was Urge Overkill, Nash Kato makes his solo introduction in big brash fashion. Focusing on his warm vocals, chorused harmonies and sweet melodies, Debutante has a distinctive glam-y touch. Far superior to the overproduced guitar-drenched final work of UO, Nash hasn't lost his musical flash. This return to ornate suave pop includes highlights like the hook-filled "Octoroons" and the surprisingly heartfelt cover of Steely Dan's "Dirty Work."
